1 border crossing (Presidio, TX / Ojinaga, Mexico)
Voni was nice enough to ride with me to the Mexican border. We tried to get an early start, but it was COLD, so I delayed a tad. Paul lent me his electric jacket and I needed it.
We played the tourists a bit–I stopped to take a picture of the Terlingua sign,
and we stopped for my first look at the Rio Grande (and across it was Mexico–I got goosebumps!)
There were horses grazing on the other side.
Who would think that this peaceful little nook of river would be the subject of so much distrust, border issues, and angst for both Mexicans and Americans. From my vantage point it was dreamy. And I was excited. Today was the day my adventure truly began…
the road to the border (Rt. 190, and AWESOME ROAD)
A rest area
Voni and I get of the bikes and take a look at the gorge fromt he top of the pass
Voni told me that in one of the westerns (ack! help me remember which one!) the DOM carved into the rock still exists…I hiked over to check it out…
Nice road
Riding into Presidio
