Last weekend for the holiday weekend we packed up the 4×4 after work on Thursday and headed out to the desert. We were trying to beat the crowds and it absolutely worked. We were the only ones driving 4×4 jeep trails through the desert at 10:30 at night trying to find the camp site we’d programmed into the GPS.

Afte a night of gale force winds and rain in the morning, we packed up camp and ventured into town for breakfast. After a couple of yummy breakfast burritos we went out to see if we could find any dragons or serpents…

…and we did!

 

Next we went chasing other fantastic creatures…

…although I am not sure who was more surprised when I actually *did* catch him!

Then we went off in search of other amusements and encountered this:

 

Unbelievable!

We were in a place that was protected by tamarisk trees, but we could see just ahead of us on the plains the mayhem that was to be our weekend.

So we turned around and came home! Saturday was a Game of Thrones marathon (hence the re-found fascination with dragons).
