‎”All India Closed” is the response I got when I asked why all the stores in ‘downtown’ Manali were closed. “all India Closed” apparently doesn’t apply to the Post oFfice, Bus Station, or hotels thank the Goddess. (The guys hawking saffron on the street apparently didn’t get the memo either!) For me it meant a more enjoyable walk through the town…kids playing cricket in the streets, clumps of people laughing, joking, playing cards on shop steps, even less traffic and virtually no honking!
