I posted two entries last year about why international airports are so cool. Each airport is different, and you get to see a lot of things exclusive to a country, particularly their food. Now, there are more reasons to love airports, especially for those of us who tend to travel to them on our motorbikes. In the UK, motorcycle parking is much cheaper than if you were using a car. Some even offer free parking spaces for motorcycles, according to Parking4Less. If you don’t have a lot of luggage to carry (or you only need two panniers for all your luggage), motorbikes are an ideal method of transportation to travel to the airport because of how cost effective it can be. I’m back in Idaho Falls, having completed a journey that started last October when I rode off to the Horizons Unlimited Meeting in California. What a ride! I got a 5000+ mile road trip, I got to meet up with old friends, I got a winter on New Mexican Prairie, I got to learn how to do more work on my KTM, I got time with horses, I made new friends, and I got physically, mentally and spiritually healthy. Endings. Beginnings. Beginnings. Endings. It feels good to be home. I have new writing opportunities, exciting new projects, and a new business idea (thanks to the perspective of new friends) on to how to combine my passions with my expertise withRead More →

My stint ranch-sitting in New Mexico over, last week I rode the 500 (ish) miles from Albuquerque, NM to Boulder, CO in one day. Man! was it cold. I didn’t even stop to take any pictures I was so frozen, but believe me the views were s-p-e-c-t-a-c-u-l-a-r! Snow capped peaks, snow on the side of the road, snow everywhere! As much as I love the mountains, I began to dream anything over 8,000 feet because I knew I would be super-cold and it would take me at least another hour riding  to thaw out. I hope to continue riding on to Idaho this coming week. ~MAGRead More →

Pronounced MAD-rid, this cool little mining-turned-artist community is nestled in the mountains between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.  A popular motorcycling destination, Madrid is one of the coolest spots I’ve been to in a while. Probably most recently famous for being the location where the movie “Wild Hogs” was filmed, here is a link to more information on that spectacle. http://www.wildhogsmadridnm.com/ And here are a couple of my own (lesser famous) teaser pics…    Read More →

Last week it was lions, tigers, cougars and panthers (don’t forget the lynx and the servals!) in Indina. Skip two days ahead, and I am in Albuquerque meeting some wonderful folks, and I get an invite for a tour of the Albuquerque Zoo. Heck yeah, I’m in. I love animals. And yes, I rode there on the motorcycle! Thanks for the private tour Susan!  Read More →

Well, I suppose it’s true that you’ll never quite be sure where I might go next. Motorcycles, animals and people are the main themes in my life, so those are the first places to look for me I suppose. This week I am at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center (http://www.exoticfelinerescuecenter.org/home.html) in Center Point, IN. Home to over 230 rescued lions, tigers, pumas, bobcats, lynx and servals, it’s an living example of how human short-sightedness causes unneeded suffering in the animal kingdom. Here’s a sneak preview of some of the gorgeous felines I have met (I’m saving the the bulk of the pics for magazine articles, which I will link to here, and to help this organization generate some much-needed funds toRead More →

Last week my friend Charlene rode out to visit with me. We took a little loop around New Mexico and had a blast. It’s not that often I get to ride with gal pals, so I was pretty excited. Thanks Charlene for making the trip!                 Out last day riding together was COLD! Charlene headed West and I headed North…Route 152 across the bottom of NM is simply s-p-e-c-t-a-c-u-l-a-r! I went up over 8000′, and there was snow on the ground.  Read More →
